I entered into forbearance on XX/XX/2021. I was current on my mortgage at the time. I was informed that the forbearance included XXXX 's payment, however I was still charged a late fee of {$140.00} for that month. I had asked to have the late fee waived and I was denied. Also, on XX/XX/XXXX, I had enquired with the lender about exiting forbearance and what my repayment options would be. I was informed that my only options were to pay the past due amount of {$14000.00} in XXXX lump sum or agree to sign a loan modification which would raise my interest rate and monthly payment. I was also told that I only have a week to decide and the offer would be withdrawn and they only provide one offer. I don't feel that this is fair and I feel that the lender is taking advantage of me the consumer in this case. I had also asked about deferment and was told the VA does not allow this option. After contacting the VA, they stated this to be false and they most certainly do allow the deferment option. I want to get my mortgage back on track but I don't feel that it is right or fair to have to pay a higher monthly payment over the course of the entire loan of 30 years to do so. In the end I would have to pay approximately {$60000.00} in additional interest ON TOP of the {$14000.00} past due balance.
