I have already notified Macy 's and XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX that this credit card was used without my knowing or permission. My now estranged wife had even used my social security number behind my back to open multiple credit cards without my permission. She is a con artist / serial defrauder and I have had to file for divorce because of this. I have severely and maliciously been defrauded by her. I am not responsible for the debt that she has incurred in my name. I am a victim of identity theft. Citibank even recognized this and deleted the Citibank entry from my credit profile. A police report was submitted to the XXXX XXXX Police Department on XX/XX/XXXX. I have found out that there are 7 other police reports with her as the suspect of fraud / theft. I opened this account on the day I purchased our wedding rings on XX/XX/XXXX solely to get a discount. That is the only charge that I am responsible for and I made that payment to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX confirmation # XXXX. At the very least I should not be responsible for all of the in-store purchases that she made on my credit card because the employees failed to verify her ID against the name on the credit card. This is a practice that has disappeared in recent years and when my ID is checked I am thankful for merchants doing their due diligence.
