I was recently released from Florida Department of Corrections after being XXXX for XXXX years and XXXX months. I had a friend help me with my credit profile so I can begin to build my credit so I can obtain housing after being locked up for so long. She went to pull my credit reports and noticed there was a collections account from XXXX XXXX which had been sold to Portfolio Recovery due to non payment. According to my credit profile, the card was opened in XXXX and placed in collections in XXXX. I was arrested back in XX/XX/XXXX and was not released until XX/XX/XXXX so there is no way I was able to open a credit card in my name especially because in XXXX we did not have access to the internet. I have proof that I was XXXX the entire time. I called Portofolio Recovery on XX/XX/XXXX and the young lady on the phone provided me details about the charges and the account which I have no knowledge of. The address that the statements were being sent to was not my last known address before I was arrested. She stated they will start a dispute being that I was XXXX but not sure if they will actually remove the collections account. I did not open a credit card account with XXXX XXXX being that I was in prison for XXXX years and XXXX months.
