On XX/XX/2021, I was charged {$270.00} from XXXX XXXX to my Citibank issued credit card. I immediately contacted Citi on or near the XXXX as soon as the transaction posted to report this as fraud. I spoke to an offshore rep on this date who marked the transaction as fraudulent, closed the account number and requested a new card be sent to my address. I received and activated the new card without any issues. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter via regular mail from Citibank advising me that they had attempted to obtain information from me regarding this charge, and did not receive a response and that I was liable for the fraudulent charges. This is where a very frustrating loop of phone calls with Citibank began. I immediately contacted them inquiring in regards to the letter. They advised me that they tried to call me ( I received no calls ) and that my phone number was disconnected. It is not, it is the same number on file with my account. I spent nearly an hour on the phone with Citibank and was sent multiple times from representative to representative. Yes, I have done business with XXXX before, but not on this card. No, I do not know the passenger who attempted to purchase an airline ticket. After nearly an hour, I was finally transferred to a representative in the United States. She apologized, informed me of the process, and the call disconnected. I spent another hour on the phone on XX/XX/XXXX attempting to resolve this fraudulent charge. After another frustrating round of questions with a hard to understand agent, I requested to close my account. After a decade of no issues and millions of dollars in charges to my account I have closed my account because of this frustrating experience. To date, I have not resolved the charges on my now closed account. I am requesting assistance in once and for all removing these charges and closing my account permanently.
