Consumer Narrative
Dear Chase Management, This is a formal complaint against the Chase Fraud Department for failing to protect me against fraudulent charges by a family member with the following vendors : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX I reported to Chase that I had no control over that member and asked Chase to block my card ending in XXXX and to issue a new one. Chase didn't block my old card and the charges persisted from the old number ending in XXXX although the account had already a new number ending in XXXX, which I have not shared with anybody. I'm held accountable for the charges made after Chase let me down and didn't block my card and failed to protect me. I am a divorced single mother and my son lives between two households with father in XXXX, VA and with me in XXXX, MD. I authorized some charges in XXXX and XXXX for XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX, which I'm not disputing. I asked my son to stop charges after XX/XX/XXXX but he wouldn't so I called Chase asking for protection. None of the charges in XX/XX/XXXX are mine, nor have they been authorized by me and they all occurred because Chase made a mistake and failed to block the card. I have spoken with several Chase Fraud representatives and supervisors, XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX ) and today with XXXX ( XX/XX/XXXX, and when I asked them why wasn't my card blocked, they become quiet and refuse to answer the question, or use avoidance techniques by saying something else. The fact they failed to block the card is the problem and I am asking for your assistance because I'm unable to assume these charges which are considerable for my budget. Please assist me in obtaining permanent credits for these charges and possibly reversing the ones made between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX, which were not authorized either. Chase finally blocked the card yesterday and issued a new number yet, ending in XXXX. I'd really appreciate your help since I'm going through a financial hardship after a difficult divorce. Chase gave me temporary credits per attached statement however, today they said they will be putting the charges back on my account. I feel so betrayed and personally harassed having to spend hours on the phone and refused to be given an answer why didn't Chase block my card on XX/XX/XXXX when I called to inform them of the situation and asked for protection? Thank you for your understanding! Sincerely, XXXX XXXX.
