Consumer Narrative
My account was hacked and several unauthorized payments of a total of {$4900.00} were made using XXXX and apple cash from XXXX. I reported this as soon as I found out to Chase bank who initially reimbursed the amount back to my account. On XX/XX/2021, the bank notified me that their research concluded that the transaction was authorized and that they would take back the reimbursed amount of {$4900.00} on XXXX and XXXX. After getting this message, I made several attempts to talk to them on the phone even visiting one of their branches. First, calling them and being connected with someone was such a painful process as I was put on hold for up to 50 minutes. Even during this long hold I would be disconnected without any announcements. After several frustrating failed attempts spanning several days I finally was able to get a hold of someone who said I had to provide proof that I did not authorize those transactions to be reimbursed the lost amount. This is impossible for me because ( 1 ) my account was hacked ( I don't know how ) and the transaction was made using my account and password by a wicked hacker, ( 2 ) I don't know the other party who received the money. How am I supposed prove that I do not know that party. Isn't it the bank 's job to find out the ip address of the receiver and figure it out? I don't have the technology and knolwedge to do that. I am already indebted with my college loan and I just can not afford to live with extra financial burden which is of not making at all. The bank is not doing its job to support their loyal customer and making it so difficult to dispute bank 's wrong process and due diligence. I demand full investigation into this matter and a full reimbursement.
