Consumer Narrative
TCF Bank has charged me fraudulent NSF fees on my account. They claim that these fees were warranted because the account had insufficient funds. This is not true. The following transpired. On XX/XX/2021 there was a POSITIVE balance of : {$520.00} I then used my TCF Debit card ( 3 ) times that day for the following : {$29.00} Bal = {$490.00} {$12.00} Bal = {$480.00} {$8.00} Bal = {$470.00} Then, THE SAME DAY, XX/XX/2021 TCF claimed that there were not enough funds in the account and charged me ( 3 ) {$37.00} NSF Fees. Which resulted in a positive balance of {$360.00} I called TCF customer service, and they were no help. They did refund me {$56.00} of the NSF fees. However, NONE of those fees should have been charged. I then complained to the XXXX, and TCF claims that the fees are accurate. The fees ARE NOT accurate, because there were in fact funds in the account to cover those ( 3 ) transactions. TCF just settled with the government for their illegal fee charging. But it seems that they have not stopped doing it. I have attached documents which clearly show that there was enough money in the account at the time to cover these debits. Even if there was a " pending '' transaction, that transaction would not have posted, and therefore no NSF fee should have been incurred.
