My roommate and I moved into the apartments at XXXX of XXXX XXXX in XXXX in XX/XX/2019. The apartment was not clean when we moved in, and we had not been allowed to see our apartment before the move in date. We told the office and they insisted it had been cleaned so we had to clean it ourselves. We had many issues with them over the year we lived there including AC and power going out multiple times. AC was out for two weeks once, we couldnt stay at the apartment because it was over 90 degrees outside. They put fan units in to try to keep it cool and these fans leaked out water all over the carpet causing damage. We decided not to renew our lease and expected our full deposit back because we left it much cleaner than wed found it, no damage other than to the carpet that was caused by their fans. Not only did we not get any deposit back, they charged us {$400.00} claiming they had to replace carpet. They are the ones that caused the damage to the carpet, and also they were remodeling all apartments and taking out the carpet anyway. They charged us for the remodeling they were doing, we did not leave any damage to that apartment. I have called their office and their management multiple times over this last year. Ive left message after message and no one has returned my call. Now I have this charge on my credit that I dont deserve. They still owe us our deposit. They took our deposit and charged us more money on top of it when we left zero damage to the apartment. I cant afford a lawyer and have no idea what to do about this situation.
