I am submitting this complaint against Citibank for failing to honor a {$750.00} promotional bonus associated with new checking and savings accounts I opened in XX/XX/XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX, I opened new checking and savings accounts with Citibank at the branch located at XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX NY XXXX. At the time of account opening, I was offered a promotional bonus of {$750.00} if I deposited {$30000.00} in new funds into either account. To meet the promotional requirement, I mailed a check for {$30000.00} to the banker who assisted me with opening the accounts, XXXX XXXX XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted XXXX XXXX regarding the discrepancy. He submitted a request through XXXX internal system to correct the bonus and assured me that the {$750.00} bonus would be credited to my account within XXXX business days. XXXX day later, I received a written letter from Citibank ( which I will attach to this complaint ) stating that I was not eligible for the {$750.00} bonus because the promotional terms required that the {$30000.00} be deposited into the checking account rather than the savings account. In XX/XX/XXXX, I visited the same branch in person to resolve the issue. XXXX XXXX again expressed confidence that I qualified for the {$750.00} bonus and stated that he submitted another request, asking me to wait an additional XXXX business days. After waiting the requested XXXX business days, no bonus was credited. I subsequently emailed XXXX XXXX for follow-up. XXXX additional weeks have now passed without any response. As of XXXX XXXX XXXX months after opening the accountsI have still not received the promised {$750.00} bonus. I relied on the bankers explicit instructions when depositing the {$30000.00} into my savings account. Had I been properly informed that the funds needed to be deposited into the checking account to qualify, I would have structured the deposit accordingly. Furthermore, I maintained {$30000.00} in the account for XXXX months in reliance on XXXX representations, incurring significant opportunity costs that I could have avoided by investing those funds elsewhere.
