Consumer Narrative

Subject Dispute of Unauthorized Hard Credit Inquiry Good morning, I am writing to formally dispute a hard credit inquiry that was placed on my credit report without my authorization. On XX/XX/XXXX, I financed my first vehicle through Old National Bank with no money down. I worked directly with XXXX XXXX at that time. In XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted XXXX XXXX again regarding upgrading my XXXX XXXX, which still had an balance of approximately {$6500.00}. I was informed that depending on the trade-in value, the remaining balance would be added to the new vehicle loan, and that this would be possible with my no money down. XXXX XXXX instructed me to find a vehicle and have the dealership send a bill of sale. On XX/XX/XXXX, I selected a XXXX XXXX from XXXX XXXX. The vehicle price was approximately {$21000.00}, or {$23000.00} after taxes. XXXX XXXX offered {$3500.00} for my XXXX XXXX, leaving an estimated {$3000.00} balance, which would bring the total loan amount to approximately {$26000.00}. The bill of sale was sent to XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX, I spoke with XXXX XXXX, who advised that everything looked good and that her supervisor ( XXXX ) would follow up in the morning for my W'2s and other documents. At no point was I informed that my credit would be run, nor did I give authorization for a credit inquiry. I never give anyone my ss #, birthday, etc. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received credit alerts showing that my credit had been pulled. I contacted the bank and spoke with XXXX, who informed me that XXXX XXXX was not authorized to roll the {$3000.00} balance into the new loan and that this was an internal issue. I reiterated that my credit had been run without my consent and that I had been given inaccurate information. I was then told that a down payment of {$3000.00} would be required, which had never been discussed previously. Additionally, I was advised that if I wanted the hard inquiry removed, I would need to contact XXXX. XXXX XXXX was also informed of the same information. While the dealership offered to finance me directly, I declined to avoid another hard inquiry. At no time did anyone discuss APR, loan terms, loan length, or obtain my permission to run my credit. My understanding and agreement with XXXX XXXX was no money down and the remaining balance being added to the new loan. Because this hard inquiry was made without my authorization and based on misinformation provided to me, I am formally requesting that this inquiry be removed from my credit report. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
