Consumer Narrative

On XX/XX/XXXX at approximately XXXX XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX at approximately XXXX XXXX, XXXX charges were posted to my Apple Card account from the merchant listed as XXXX. I do not recognize these charges and did not authorize them. I have not placed any orders with XXXX since XXXX, which I can verify through my XXXX account history. After noticing the charges, I contacted XXXX directly. XXXX informed me that they are unable to locate these transactions on their end and that the charges do not appear on my XXXX account or order history. ( I attached my XXXX order history and the fees charged to my XXXX seller account for the month of XX/XX/XXXX. ) I subsequently filed a dispute with Goldman Sachs ( Apple Card issuer ). I also changed my XXXX account password, changed my XXXX credit card number, and turned on Advanced Fraud Protection on my credit card. Despite my statements that the charges were unauthorized and despite XXXX inability to locate the transactions, Goldman Sachs denied my dispute twice. Goldman Sachs stated to me over the phone that, based on their advanced technology, they determined that I authorized the transactions. No documentation demonstrating that I personally and knowingly initiated these transactions has been provided to me despite repeatedly asking. Goldman Sachs further stated verbally that the only explanation for the charges not being mine would be if my account or device had been compromised, and they suggested that I file a police report, which I have done. At the time both transactions occurred, I was working as a resident physician at a hospital and was actively caring for patients. I did not make any purchases at those times and did not knowingly authorize any XXXX transactions. I am concerned that Goldman Sachs has improperly treated the use of my credentials, device, or location as proof of authorization, rather than addressing whether I personally and intentionally initiated these transactions. I believe this constitutes a failure to properly investigate and resolve an unauthorized charge under the Fair Credit Billing Act.
