Consumer Narrative

Between XX/XX/year>, I attempted to resolve a debt that IQ Data XXXX is reporting. During this time, I experienced repeated harassment, refusal to communicate, refusal to validate the debt, and intentional blocking of my ability to make payment. On XX/XX/XXXX, IQ Data XXXX called me at XXXX PM and XXXX PM from XXXX different numbers using my local area code ( XXXX ). I did not give permission for them to call. On XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX PM, they again called me without permission using another XXXX area code number. These calls all occurred after I asked them not to call me and requested written communication only. From XX/XX/XXXX through XX/XX/XXXX, I attempted to speak with their representatives multiple times. Each time I asked standard questionssuch as requesting a debt validation letter, requesting the account number, or asking about the charge-off statusthe representatives became hostile, talked over me, and repeatedly hung up on me. On several recorded calls, multiple staff members appeared to coordinate with each other before abruptly ending the call. I specifically requested a debt validation letter multiple times, and they refused to provide one. I also asked for my account number so that I could verify the debt and log in to view the balance on their website. They refused to give me the account number and insisted I could not receive it. When I attempted to make a payment online, their website would not allow me to access my balance at all. When I asked about this, their staff told me that if I paid online, I would not receive a receipt and that I must pay over the phone. This is misleading and appears to be an attempt to prevent me from having written proof of payment. After I questioned the legitimacy of the balance and mentioned that the original creditor had charged off the debt, the company became even more hostile. Starting XX/XX/year>, IQ Data began refusing to speak with me entirely, disconnecting every time I identified myself. Their behavior escalated after I requested validation and after I questioned the calculations of the amount owed. Their conduct violates multiple provisions of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Texas Debt Collection Act, including : Calling without permission Refusing to provide debt validation Misrepresenting payment receipt policies Refusing to provide basic account information Hanging up repeatedly to avoid providing information Blocking access to online payment Using multiple different local numbers to make unwanted calls Engaging in deceptive and unfair collection practices I am requesting that the CFPB : 1. Investigate IQ Data Internationals illegal and deceptive collection practices. 2. Require them to provide proper debt validation and account documentation. 3. Require them to disclose the account number and allow access to the online balance. 4. Stop their harassment and refusal to communicate. 5. Remove ( delete ) this collection account from all credit reports based on their multiple violations. 6. Provide written confirmation of the resolution. I have recorded calls documenting these actions and can provide them upon request.
