Complainant : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, CA XXXX Company : Portfolio Recovery Associates , LLC ( PRA ) Account Reference : XXXX XXXX account, last 4 digits : XXXX -- - Summary of Complaint : I am filing this complaint because Portfolio Recovery Associates ( PRA ) has violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ) and the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). On a prior date, I mailed PRA a formal Debt Validation Request under FDCPA 15 U.S.C. 1692g. PRA has failed to provide any legally required validation, including : Proof that I owe the debt Documentation showing an itemized accounting of the balance Proof of ownership or chain of title from the original creditor A copy of any contract or agreement bearing my signature Despite not providing validation, PRA continues attempting collection by email and through other communications. This is a violation of FDCPA 1692g ( b ). Additionally, PRA is reporting or attempting to report this unvalidated debt to credit bureaus, which violates FCRA 623 and FDCPA 1692e ( 8 ), as they are communicating unverified and potentially inaccurate information. I also instructed PRA that all contact must be made only through USPS mail. They continue contacting me electronically, violating FDCPA 1692c ( c ). -- - Requested Resolution : 1. PRA must cease all collection activity until full validation is provided. 2. PRA must remove any negative reporting regarding this account from all credit bureaus. 3. PRA must communicate only through USPS mail as previously instructed. 4. PRA must provide written confirmation of compliance. I respectfully request CFPB assistance in enforcing these requirements, as PRA is actively violating federal law and my consumer rights.
