Consumer Narrative

I am disputing the service provided to me by XXXX XXXX in the amount of {$3000.00} and am disputing {$2000.00} of this amount. I initially reached out to them on XX/XX/XXXX to install a widebody kit on my XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. They said that this was something they were capable of doing and I began communicating with them on when to drop off the car and the body kit. They quoted me {$2700.00} and they seemed confident in their ability to assemble it. On XX/XX/XXXX, all of the parts were delivered and I dropped the vehicle off at XXXX XXXX in the morning. It was estimated to be done at the end of the week ( Friday ). I inspected all of the pieces to ensure nothing was broken and dropped off the widebody kit and vehicle. They seemed a bit unsure about the assembly of everything at dropoff, so I provided them with multiple video tutorials and images of the installation process ( I have text message proof of these interactions ). The vehicle was not completed on Friday and in fact took about a month to complete. I followed up regularly as I was without a vehicle and for XXXX weeks they continued to tell me their tech was figuring out how to assemble it right. On XX/XX/XXXX, they reached out about a part of the bumper being broken. I had inspected all of the pieces thoroughly before dropoff so I can guarantee that this piece was not broken before. Still, I said it was okay and they agreed to fix the piece. Upon pickup the part was not fixed and was still broken, but was covered up. Finally, around the fourth week assembly began and I was told on XX/XX/XXXX that I could pick up the vehicle. They sent me pictures of the work and based off the pictures it looked okay. However, I noticed that some parts that I explicitly asked to be painted black were painted a wrong color. They acknowledged that they painted it the wrong color, but upon pickup said that it would be an additional charge for them to fix it. ( Their acknowledgment that it was painted incorrectly is shown in text images ). There were a few parts they had to purchase over the month the vehicle was with them, which I approved them to purchase, bringing the final price to {$3000.00}. After a month of being without a vehicle I was just happy the work was done and I could finally bring the car home. I picked up the car on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XX/XX/XXXX. By the time I made it home with the vehicle, I immediately noticed some glaring problems. I had told them clearly that I did not want any visible screws on the exterior body going into the car and wanted the fender flares to not be attached with XXXX tape but to instead be bolted on seamlessly. Neither XXXX of these requested were fulfilled. I immediately noticed XXXX large screws holding the front most fender flare pieces together which was never discussed with me. I then noticed the separation of multiple of the fender flares from the body of the car. Most pieces were applied using XXXX which I had told them to avoid because it would not hold. I picked up the vehicle at XXXX and by XXXX I messaged them with images and video of all of the issues. Only XXXXXX/XX/XXXX after pickup and it already looked terrible. They acknowledged the separation but offered to do nothing to fix it. I no longer wanted them touching the vehicle out of fear that it could take another month or they would make it worse so I asked what could be done about it. I did not get a response. I followed up again a week later on XX/XX/XXXX because the separation continued to get worse and they never replied. They have not tried to reply to me, fix their mistakes, or make it right in anyway. After paying over {$3000.00} for the service I am deeply disappointed in the quality that was provided. There has been no accountability or acknowledgment of the service provided so I am now having to find a different body shop to fix the work that they did. I have taken it to XXXX different body shops in town, all of which have confirmed the poor nature of XXXXXX/XX/XXXX work. XXXX refused to work on it any further because of the quality. However XXXX XXXX was sympathetic because of the unfortunate situation and has been willing to work on it. I will be having to spend another {$1500.00} through them to fix what XXXX XXXX did to the car. I had hoped that this issues could be resolved with them and that they would possibly refund me or offer to correct their work, but neither of these things happened. They were quick to charge me a premium and then disappeared when issues arose. They are known for their collision repair abilities, however cosmetic upgrades are much different and it was clear that they were not familiar with how to do the work adequately. If this was not something they felt comfortable with, they should have reached out and admitted that instead of doing a poor job and causing me to pay thousands more in repairs. I have full conversations proving all of this as well as receipts, photos of the damage, and quotes from other body shops to repair the work if needed. For the last XXXX months I have been disputing this service through Bank of America and they have consistently asked for more and more documents, then despite me providing everything they had asked for, the claim was still denied. They asked for a second opinion letter from another body shop which I received. They then said it wasnt signed, so I went back and had it signed. They then said it wasnt specific enough. I have called XXXX different agents to figure out what is needed and each one tells me a different story and then my claim is denied for having insufficient evidence. I have all of the resources necessary to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the work provided to me was unsatisfactory. I have attached the estimate from XXXX XXXX XXXX where they state the kit was installed wrong as well. I hope this situation can be resolved. Thank you.
