I am filing this complaint regarding abusive, threatening, and potentially unlawful conduct by my auto finance company. Since obtaining this loan in XX/XX/2025, I have never missed a payment. At most, payments have been up to 21 days late, yet I have been subjected to harassment, threats of vehicle disablement, and inappropriate workplace contact. I was not informed at the time of purchase that a starter-interrupt / vehicle kill switch would be installed on my car. I only became aware of this device days after the vehicle was already in my possession, when representatives of the finance company came to my place of employment and placed a switch on my vehicle. There was no clear prior written disclosure, explanation, or consent provided regarding : The existence of the device The conditions under which it could be activated Any grace period or required notices I believe this is deceptive and may violate state and federal consumer protection laws. Despite having no missed payments, a collection representative has : Spoken to me in a rude, aggressive, and demeaning manner Threatened to shut my vehicle off Used intimidation tactics that caused distress and fear of losing transportation to work Threatening to disable a vehicle when payments have been consistently made and without proper notice is unreasonable and potentially unlawful. The finance company came to my job and made contact regarding my vehicle and account. This was humiliating, inappropriate, and disruptive. This conduct has caused unnecessary stress, fear of loss of transportation, and disruption to my employment. I believe I have been treated unfairly despite acting in good faith and maintaining my financial obligations.
