I had a credit card with Synchrony Bank, my first payment of {$150.00} was withdrawn on XXXX. I had not seen a withdrawal for XXXX and had not received a card in the mail so I contacted them on XXXX. I was advised the issue was that a single number was incorrect for my auto pay so they resolved it and on XXXX I had another withdrawal for {$150.00} as expected. I also was told they would send me a new credit card which I did receive. So it did indeed appear resolved. I then received a letter advising me that my account was being closed dated XXXX. I called them again twice on XXXX to discuss this and they advised me that they no longer owned the account so they could not even discuss it with me or accept a payment but that I owed {$1700.00} which would make sense if I was current since the credit used was for {$2000.00}. I was first told they attempted to contact me by phone but then a second person told me they don't call customers at all. I asked to get the information for the collection agency but the agent refused to provide it to me. I asked to speak to a supervisor to get that information and again the agent refused to do so. I now have no way to file a formal dispute since my account was current and closed 6 days after it became current. The lack of communication is preventing me from following the process I should follow to dispute this. I can see the payments from my bank account to show that my payments were made.
