I am a XXXX veteran disputing this collection account ( Reference # XXXX ) in its entirety. This debt is invalid because the underlying lease agreement was legally terminated " for cause '' in strict accordance with Florida Statute 83.56 ( 1 ) due to the landlord 's material failure to maintain the premises ( severe mold and infestation ) under Florida Statute 83.51. Timeline of Legal Termination : On XX/XX/year>, my co-tenant and I hand-delivered a formal " 7-Day Notice to Cure '' to the property management, citing severe habitability violations including black mold and cockroach infestation. We also sent this notice via Certified Mail ( Delivered XX/XX/year> ) to ensure perfection of service. The landlord failed to remedy the material noncompliance within the statutory 7-day window. Consequently, we exercised our right to terminate the rental agreement and vacated the premises on XX/XX/year>. Possession was surrendered and a formal Notice of Lease Termination was delivered via Certified Mail on XX/XX/year>.
