Consumer Narrative
I am filing a complaint about the reporting of my auto loan with JPMCB Auto / Chase Auto Finance, account ending XXXX. I am not denying that the vehicle was repossessed in the past. My complaint is about the current status and balance that Chase is furnishing to the national credit bureaus and the lack of clear documentation about any alleged deficiency balance. In early XXXX I filed a CFPB complaint about this loan ( case number XXXX ), which was handled by the Chase Executive Office . After that complaint : My Chase online profile has shown this auto loan with a XXXX balance and closed status. On XX/XX/year>, Chase sent me an Interest Paid Letter stating that interest paid was not available and year-to-date interest paid is not available. Despite this, my recent credit reports from XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX still show this same loan as an auto charge-off with a large past-due balance of approximately {$21000.00}, with recent update dates in XXXX. This is inconsistent with Chases own system ( XXXX balance / closed ) and with the lack of basic interest information in the letter. I have never received a clear written breakdown from Chase showing how this alleged deficiency balance was calculated after repossession and auction of the vehicle ( sale price, fees, interest, etc. ). I have also never received any confirmation that the balance was cancelled, sold, or reported on IRS Form 1099-C. In other words, Chase is allowing a large charged-off balance to be reported to the credit bureaus without clearly explaining whether that balance is still legally owed or has been cancelled/charged to loss. Because of these conflicts, I have now filed new CFPB complaints against XXXX XXXX and XXXX about how they are reporting this account and other auto loans. I am not trying to erase the past repossession ; I am trying to make sure that the current status and balance of this loan are reported accurately, consistently, and in a way that can be properly verified under the FCRA.
