Portfolio Recovery Associates is reporting an incorrect balance on my XXXX XXXX collection account ( ending in XXXX ). I recently paid this account down, and my actual balance due is {$84.00}. However, Portfolio increased the reported balance to {$110.00} without any explanation, notice, or legal basis. This is a clear violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ) 623 ( a ) ( 1 ) ( A ), which requires furnishers to report accurate information. I have proof of the correct balance directly from Portfolios own payment portal, screenshots attached. I opened a dispute with Equifax, but Portfolio continues to report the incorrect, inflated balance. This inaccurate reporting is harming my credit score and preventing me from obtaining transportation and housing. I am requesting Portfolio recovery associates to Delete the account entirely if they can not verify the correct amount. If this can not be resolved, I will escalate to the Attorney General and pursue legal action for damages caused by inaccurate reporting
