To the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, I am filing a complaint against JPMorgan Chase Bank for providing misleading information, improperly closing my account, assessing fees after I paid the agreed balance, and sending an inaccurate balance to collections, which may harm my credit. Chase informed me that if I paid my unpaid account balance of {$350.00} before XX/XX/year>, my account would not be closed. I paid the full balance on XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX day before the deadlineexactly as instructed. Despite this, on XX/XX/year>, Chase assessed a {$15.00} service fee after my account had already been paid in full. That new fee created a negative balance that I had no ability to anticipate or prevent. Chase then used that fee-created balance as the reason to close my account, even though they had previously assured me they would not do so once the {$350.00} was paid. When I contacted Chase to correct this issue, they refused to reopen the account and refused to reverse the fee, even though I met all requirements they gave me in writing and over the phone. They then sent the remaining {$13.00} ( the difference after applying my payment ) to collections. This has caused or will cause the following harm : 1. Inaccurate negative information being reported to my credit. 2. Damage to my creditworthiness due to a balance that existed only because of Chases error. 3. Stress, financial disruption, and the burden of disputing a debt created entirely by improper handling of my account. I am requesting that the CFPB investigate Chases actions and require them to : Remove the collection entry from my credit reports. Correct any inaccurate reporting associated with this account. Reverse the improper service fee. Acknowledge and correct their failure to honor the agreement they provided regarding keeping the account open. I acted in good faith, followed all instructions, and paid the required balance on time. The resulting closure and collection activity are due solely to Chases actions and misinformation.
