Consumer Narrative
Issue : Unauthorized Credit Card Transaction Apple Card Refusing to Remove Fraudulent Charge I am filing this complaint because Apple Card ( Goldman Sachs / Apple Card Services ) is refusing to remove a {$3000.00} fraudulent charge made on my account on XX/XX/year>, even after I provided complete evidence that the transaction was unauthorized. My name is XXXX XXXX XXXX. I added my son, XXXX XXXX, as an authorized user because he is a student and uses the card when needed. On XX/XX/year>, XXXX was walking outside when he unknowingly came into contact with individuals using a wireless skimming device capable of capturing credit card information. He had no interaction with these individuals other than being physically bumped into, and he was unaware that his card information had been stolen. On XX/XX/year>, we discovered a {$3000.00} transaction on my Apple Card that neither of us made or authorized. Immediately after discovering this fraudulent charge, we took all required steps : Filed a police report documenting the credit card information theft. Reported the fraud to Apple Card the same day, and they instructed us to dispute the transaction. Provided the police report and all requested information to Apple Card. Apple Card representatives informed us they were able to obtain information identifying the individual who made the fraudulent {$3000.00} transaction. Despite this, Apple Card has denied removing the charge and is attempting to hold me financially responsible for an unauthorized transaction. This is in direct violation of the Fair Credit Billing Act ( FCBA ), which protects consumers from liability for charges they did not authorize. This is a clear case of credit card fraud. Neither I nor my authorized user made this transaction, approved it, or benefited from it in any way. We followed all required procedures and provided evidence, yet Apple Card refuses to honor their legal obligation to remove the fraudulent charge. I am requesting the CFPBs assistance to : Require Apple Card to remove the {$3000.00} fraudulent charge Remove any related interest or fees Correct my account to reflect accurate and lawful billing Ensure Apple Card complies with FCBA protections for unauthorized transactions I have acted promptly, in good faith, and with complete documentation. Apple Cards refusal to correct this fraudulent charge is unfair, unlawful, and harmful. Thank you for your assistance.
