I received a letter from XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) claiming that I owe {$710.00} to XXXX This is incorrect. I do not owe XXXX any money. After receiving the letter, I requested verification of the debt. The documentation XXXX sent actually showed that I do not owe. When I disputed the debt and asked them to investigate further or confirm that it was dismissed, they sent the same paperwork again, but this time they left out some of the paperwork that shows that they are error. The amount in question came from a fraudulent charge on my XXXX Citi XXXX account. XXXX Citi XXXX investigated and confirmed the charge was fraudulent, then issued a chargeback in my favor. Months later, this same fraudulent amount was sent to collections under my name. XXXX is aware that this was a chargeback and was determined to be fraud. The paperwork they sent initially stated that fact very clearly. This situation appears to be an error that has not been properly corrected. I am requesting that the CFPB XXXX this matter and ensure that both XXXX and XXXX stop any further collection attempts or reporting related to this invalid debt. Their continued collection efforts after receiving a proper dispute notice may violate the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I will be following up with the Delaware Consumer Protection and the State Bank Commissioner as well.
