Consumer Narrative

Merchant XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) scam date : XX/XX/scrub>XXXX XXXX XXXX | Type of scam : XXXX | Amount agreed to : {$10.00} XXXX | Amount ( total ) stolen by scammers : {$1000.00} XXXX | First transaction dispute : XX/XX/year> | Dispute rejected : XX/XX/year> | Reason given : ( un-returnable ) goods not returned | XXXX transaction dispute : XX/XX/year> | Filed police report ( which was included in second dispute explanation ) : XX/XX/year> | Dispute rejected : XX/XX/year> | Reason given : insufficient evidence | Filed FTC Fraud claim against merchant : XX/XX/year> | Third transaction dispute : XX/XX/year> ___ Timeline of events ( long-form ) : Immediately filed a transaction dispute with Goldman Sachs XXXX Apple Card XXXX for {$990.00} ( subtracting the agreed-to amount : {$10.00} ). Was later temporarily refunded the full {$1000.00} after explaining the XXXX-man CD scam that took place via the XXXX XXXXaccessed " Apple Card XXXX '' messaging feature. First transaction dispute rejection ( XX/XX/year> ) stated : " Based on available information, we determined the goods or services were not returned within the timeframe described by the merchant 's terms and conditions. '' I explained in the first dispute that I immediately turned around to speak to the XXXX men about the charge within XXXX minutes of leaving the scene, and the men were gone. There is no contact information for me to have been able to connect with XXXX or both men to return the ( blank ) disc and demand a refund on the spot. Filed a second transaction dispute ( XX/XX/year> ) stating that in the messaging feature that, if I had an address or any form of contact information for the merchant, I would have returned the * blank * CD with [ copyright-infringement ] DC characters ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) printed faintly on the front with a clear QR code on the bottom right front corner linking to the XXXX homepage, but not to any actual music. The Apple Card XXXX I was messaging with provided the mailing address Goldman Sachs had on file for the merchant. They provided/had no merchant name ( XXXX ). Note : The address provided for the merchant is for an apartment complex in another city with no unit number I included the provided address in the ( attached and approved ) police report. In the explanation of my dispute, I re-shared the summarized yet thorough breakdown of events, in addition to my police report case number the scam took place outside of a bank, so I'm hoping video evidence will at least be available to police ( I mentioned this to Goldman Sachs, too ) as well as included forum links to other people 's similar experiences with CD scams. I also called attention to the incomplete address of the merchant, as well as to my Apple Card donation transaction history never being more than {$25.00} ( plus fees ) for actually legitimate causes ( XXXX, etc. ) to further exemplify the ludicrous " donation '' amount of {$1000.00}. Yet the second transaction dispute was still rejected ( XX/XX/year> ), stating, " We further investigated the dispute and reviewed any additional information that XXXX have been provided. Based on our review, the original decision will remain because there is no evidence to substantiate the claim. '' When first sharing the police report ( via Apple Card XXXX messaging ; XX/XX/year> ), Representative XXXX stated that ( verbatim ) : " It will be the Evidence Needed letter on dispute XXXX. '' The FTC Fraud claim and upcoming notifying of XXXX of the merchant 's scam and theft of a felony amount ( which was noted in the second transaction dispute ) will be included in the third transaction dispute.
