I am filing a complaint regarding an Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Act or Practice ( UDAAP ) by Chase Bank related to their XXXX XXXX Rewards card. In XXXX, the XXXXChase interface automatically switched my default payment method to a dormant Chase card without my explicit consent. This 'dark pattern ' UI change caused a charge to land on an unmonitored account. Chase then failed to provide adequate notice of the delinquency. Because the account had been dormant, I reasonably believed the generic letters were phishing attempts or marketing solicitations. The moment I discovered the error ( which was caused by their deceptive UI switch ), I paid the balance in full immediately. I sent a certified letter through USPS to Chase on XX/XX/year> explaining the details of the problem. I received a phone call in response on XX/XX/year> from the Chase Executive Office regarding this matter. She acknowledged the situation but stated she " can not " update the reporting, citing FCRA accuracy requirements. I contend that reporting a delinquency on a debt created through deceptive payment switching is, by definition, inaccurate and unfair. Chase is hiding behind 'accuracy ' to penalize a consumer for their own confusing user interface.
