Consumer Narrative

In XX/XX/year>, I opened a Reflex XXXX account issued by Celtic Bank and serviced by Continental Finance Company ( CFC ). The card was advertised as reporting monthly to all three major credit bureaus and I obtained it specifically to build positive credit history. Since opening the account, I have used the card and made payments on time each month. As of my most recent credit reports dated XX/XX/year> from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, this XXXX account does not appear at all on any of my credit files. In contrast, another card serviced by CFC ( the FIT card issued by XXXX XXXX XXXX, opened XX/XX/year> ) is reporting correctly to all three bureaus as an individual revolving account with a {$400.00} limit, high balance {$140.00}, and pays as agreed status. This shows that CFC is capable of and currently furnishing data to the bureaus, but is omitting the XXXX account entirely. On XX/XX/year> I emailed CFCs back office to report XXXX issues : ( XXXX ) my XX/XX/year> XXXX statement had not posted to my online account, and ( XXXX ) the account was not being reported to any credit bureau despite several months of use and ontime payments. I asked XXXX to post the missing statement, correct the reporting failure, and provide written confirmation. XXXX responded by mailed letter dated XX/XX/year> stating only that they are unable to honor your request and that the account is being accurately reported to the credit bureau agencies and can not be altered. They did not explain why the XXXX account is not present on any of my credit reports or provide any documentation showing that it is being reported. The result is that my positive payment history on the XXXX card is not being furnished to any bureau, while CFC claims they are reporting accurately and refuses to correct the issue. This deprives me of the primary benefit that was advertised for the card ( monthly reporting to all three bureaus ) and prevents my ontime payments from contributing to my credit history. I am asking the CFPB to require CFC to properly investigate, to begin furnishing complete and accurate data for the XXXX account to all three major bureaus ( including backdating the history to the accounts opening in XX/XX/year> ), and to address any harm caused by the failure to report.
