XXXX XXXX {$500.00} deposited money order was put on hold for 12 days without letting me know that the money would be on hold this long, I could not cancel the transaction and get my money order back because the atm machine kept processing the transaction and would not return the deposit. I went to the counter and the teller and the branch manager said they could not help me and see what they could do. The branch manager then called me back and said management would not release my funds until XXXX without any explanation. As a result of this incredible delay and holding of my funds. I missed celebrating my child 's birthday party, missed XXXX and had to change my plans because the month was on hold for 12 days until XXXX and this has been emotionally and mentally draining. Nature of the Complaint Chase Bank placed an extended hold on my deposit without providing proper notice or a legally valid reason. This action appears to violate : Regulation CC Funds Availability Act Truth in Savings Act ( TISA ) Unfair or Deceptive Acts ( UDAAP ) under both federal and state law This hold prevented me from accessing my own funds during my childs birthday and the XXXX XXXX, causing emotional and financial harm. Details No proper written explanation for the hold was provided Hold length far exceeded standard regulatory guidance Chase did not cite any proper exception hold reason The hardship caused was severe and unnecessary Requested Action I request the following : Review Chases compliance with state and federal banking laws Require Chase to provide a complete explanation and documentation Determine whether Chase engaged in unfair or abusive conduct Require Chase to correct the problem and compensate where appropriate Thank you for your assistance.
