Consumer Narrative

DEAR MACYS/CITIBANK : CFPB ; XXXX : I am submitting this complaint because Citibank/Macys is reporting an account on my credit report listing me as an Authorized Account user even though I never opened this account, never applied for it, and never consented to being added. The account ending in XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX with a reported balance of {$570.00} and a charge-off status is fraudulent, unauthorized, and the result of identity theft. I did not apply for this account, did not authorize anyone to add me as an authorized user, and did not make any charges, payments, or activity reflected in the reported history. This includes : Date opened : XX/XX/XXXX I DID NOT open this Date closed : XX/XX/XXXX I DID NOT close this Last payment : XX/XX/XXXX I DID NOT make this Reported charge-off I DID NOT incur these charges This account was placed on my credit report without my authorization and continues to harm my credit, misrepresent my financial history, and expose me to further identity-theft risks. I have attempted multiple times to resolve this with Citibank/Macys using the phone number listed on the credit report ( XXXX ). However, the company has failed to conduct a lawful reinvestigation, refuses to provide proof of authorization, and continues to furnish the fraudulent charge-off data. I believe Citibank/Macys is in violation of federal identity theft protections, credit reporting requirements, and unfair-practice prohibitions. 1. Failure to properly authenticate who added me as an authorized user violates these Red Flag requirements. 3.
