Consumer Narrative

On XX/XX/year>, at XXXXXXXX XXXX, IQ Data International in Washington called me about an alleged debt from XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX. Before this, they sent me a letter stating I moved out on XX/XX/XXXX, even though I had moved out months earlier and told me the amount I supposedly owe will go up every day. I do not owe this debt. My lease with XXXX XXXX XXXX clearly stated {$0.00} rent and {$0.00} security deposit under the Section 8 program. I moved out because the complex is XXXX XXXX XXXX my apartment was getting broken into and the landlord let an unknown male into my apartment while I was gone for a week without giving me notice and damaged my property. I had a friend holding my keys to check on my apartment for which she called me and informed me as well. ( neighbors called me and informed me the same day. ) the landlord told me she never been in there but witnesses say otherwise and she threatened to kick me out so I just left that day I spoke with her. During the call, the representatives was aggressive and unprofessional. I was told I had to stay on the phone and answer all questions. The representatives demanded that I add my husband to the call, tried to get his information and how much he makes at his job, asked about how much we pay for our apartment and vehicle, even after I explained that he was driving and not part of the lease and not living with me then. They also threatened that if I didnt pay, the debt would appear on both my credit and my husbands, even though he was never on the lease. When I mentioned my rights under the FDCPA and requested validation of the debt in writing, they talked over me, put me on hold multiple times, said this isnt customer service, this is debt collection, and eventually hung up in the middle of myself saying I dispute the debt under FDCPA. I felt intimidated, uncomfortable, and scared by how they treated me. I had a XXXX XXXX. That same day, I mailed IQ Data International a written letter disputing the debt and requesting all communication to be in writing only to make sure I got my message across. Despite this, they called me again on another number XX/XX/year>, at XXXXXXXX XXXX. When I told them I had sent a letter and to contact me only in writing, the representative cleared his throat, said no, and I hung up. They called again immediately afterward for which I declined that call. Despite this, IQ Data International has called and harassed me multiple times, demanding payment for a debt I do not owe. They refused to provide their full mailing address and physical address when asked, and they ignored my request for written communication. I have the phone call recorded but can not get it submitted to yall as it transferred to my notes app but the conversation can be heard clearly. Their actions violate the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by refusing to provide their full legal company name and address, ignoring my written communication request, making false threats about credit reporting, harassment, demanding to speak with someone not on the account, and continuing contact after I disputed the debt. I am requesting the CFPB investigate this company for harassment, intimidation, and FDCPA violations.
