Consumer Narrative
My Bank of America debit card was used for fraudulent activity for a total of {$5100.00} on various dates from XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX on the platform Coinbase. I do not have an account with this company nor have I ever engaged in business with them. I reported this fraudulent activity to Bank of America on XX/XX/XXXX and my claim was denied on XX/XX/XXXX. In speaking to a BoA claims representative, I was informed that my claim was denied because I approved a security alert phone call on XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX PM ( EST ), however I did not receive any calls, texts or app alerts from BoA on that day and did not approve any transactions. I fear that my phone number may have been cloned or my BoA online account hacked. I was recently prompted to change my BoA account password which may have been due to a security breach. I asked Bank of America to reopen the claim and send me a copy of the documents used to make the original decision of denial. I was told these documents would be emailed to me and they have not been. I also requested a copy of the recording of the authorization phone call which was declined. I have sent them a police report and my phone records via fax indicating no contact from Bank of America on XX/XX/XXXX. I have requested a link to upload these files faster and that has also not been provided.
