Subject : Citi Bank Wrongfully Withholding {$830.00} Check Funds, Blocking Account Access, and Providing False Information Complaint : I am filing this complaint because Citi Bank closed my account without proper notice, withheld my funds, and misled me about the status of my account. On XX/XX/year>, I deposited a check for {$830.00} from my employer. Citi Bank accepted the deposit, and the funds were successfully deducted from my employers bank account. Citi Bank closed my account on XX/XX/year>, but they actually blocked my access before the closing date. When I tried logging into the Citi mobile app, it did NOT say the account was closed. Instead, it showed the message : We are facing technical problems, please try again later. Because of this, I had no access and no warning that my account was being shut down. Even after closing the account, Citi Bank did not return the {$830.00} from the deposited check. Instead, they only sent me {$410.00} a month later, which was my old balancenot the check amount. They are still withholding the rest of my money. Citi Bank claims they need to verify the check. I provided my employers correct phone number, but Citi incorrectly told me the number was not valid. This is falsemy employer is available and willing to verify the check, and it has already cleared from his bank account. For more than XXXX months, Citi Bank has given me conflicting information, delayed the process, and failed to return my money. This has caused me serious financial stress.
