XX/XX/year> I received notice from Citibank regarding the credit limit on my credit card. I had asked for in increase in credit limit in XX/XX/year> and it was declined and left at the {$3300.00} limit. On XX/XX/year> I received notice they are lowering my limit to {$2800.00}, which is within {$60.00} of my credit balance. The notice stated it was lowering the limit due to my total revolving credit usage was high in proportion to my available credit. I do not dispute this as I've used my credit cards to pay bills while starting a new business. It has averaged around 90 % available credit usage. What I fiind infuriating is that before the credit lilmit decrease, I was around 84 % credit usage on the Citi card and I was current on all payments and have not missed any payments. Now, after lowering the limit, it will be reported I am using nearly 98 % of my credit limit. This seems entirely counter intuitive and seems like a total scam on the part of the company. I would love to cancel the card and pay off the balance, but I know that will lead to a nagative hit on my credit score too, which is a total scam and needs to be redone, but that's a complaint for another day. Citibank is hurting my ability to get credit in the future for no justifiable reason by making my overall credit usage % go up when they did not need to do that.
