XX/XX/year>XXXX I requested debt validation from portfolio recovery associates to ensure that when I paid I was paying the correct company and not a scam. They sent debt validation and proceeded to sue me through XXXX XXXX XXXX. They would no longer speak to me about the debt so I settled with XXXX XXXX and they then reported the account as settled to portfolio recovery associates. It was removed from my credit report. Fast forward to today XX/XX/year>, I receive notice of a new collection on my credit report and it is none other than the account from portfolio recovery that was previously settled. I log in to my account with portfolio recovery and I see they are attempting to actually collect the remaining balance though the account was settled in full back in XXXX. I call in, they are confused to the whole situation. They state that they see that it's settled but aren't sure why it's being reported or why they are attempting to continue to collect on the account. No solution, no answers just " I'm not sure why ''. Horrible business practices, no communication within the company. Violating our agreement to settle the account.
