I was recently a victim of a scam using XXXX. I sent a {$120.00} XXXX payment to purchase a camera on Sunday, XX/XX/XXXX. The seller provided a fake XXXX invoice and tracking number to make the transaction appear legitimate. I realized it was a scam and reported it to Chase on Tuesday, XX/XX/XXXX, less than XXXX hours after sending the payment. Chase initially opened a case ( Reference # XXXX ) but later closed it the same day, stating the transaction was authorized and could not be considered fraud/scam. I have also reported the scam to XXXX, and they have told me that they are currently looking into it and will be reaching out to my bank, as well as my scammers bank, which is XXXX XXXX. I also spoke to Chase again and asked them to reclassify my case as a fraud/scam, rather than an authorized transaction and they had denied that request. I am requesting CFPB assistance to ensure my case is reviewed as a scam/fraud and that Chase takes appropriate action to attempt recovery of the funds.
