On XX/XX/year>, I received a call from a representative of IQ Data International, who stated that I allegedly owed approximately {$1900.00} to an apartment complex I had vacated a year earlier. I requested written validation of the debt, but the caller abruptly hung up. The next day, at about XXXX XXXX., another representative contacted me and again demanded payment of the {$1900.00}. I explained that I was at work, reiterated that I needed proper validation before making any payment, and said I would return the call after my shift. She warned that if I failed to call back before the end of the day I would need a lawyer. When I replied that I would consult one, she argued that if I could afford an attorney I should pay [ my ] bills instead. I ended the call. Later that evening, I phoned IQ Data International again. For over an hour I spoke with the same woman, who said she could send a debt-validation notice but that it would take a long time. She then stated that she knew where I worked and that I would be sorry, before hanging up. I called back and asked to speak with someone else. A male representative explained the validation process but ended his explanation with the phrase, You feel me, bro, which I found inappropriate and unprofessional. When I expressed that, as an XXXX XXXX, I found the remark offensive, he responded, You dont want to go that route, buddy. He added that the company does not offer payment arrangements and suggested I borrow the money or do whatever [ I ] have to to pay the debt. He then said he would place [ me ] in timeout and put me on hold.
