CFPB Complaint Narrative JPMorgan Chase Fraudulent Account I am a victim of identity theft. A fraudulent account was opened with JPMorgan Chase Bank in my name without my knowledge or authorization. The account number is XXXX. Accounts opened since 2021. I never applied for or consented to this account. As soon as I discovered it, I filed an FTC Identity Theft Report and a police report to document the fraud. I also provided JPMorgan Chase with written dispute letters, copies of my government-issued ID, and proof of my current address. Despite this, the fraudulent account remains associated with my credit file and is being reported to the credit bureaus. Under FCRA 605B ( 15 U.S.C. 1681c-2 ), I have the legal right to have all fraudulent information blocked from my credit reports within four business days of submitting proof of identity theft. Additionally, under the Fair Credit Billing Act ( FCBA ), I am not liable for any charges or balances on accounts that were opened or used fraudulently. I am requesting that the CFPB ensure JPMorgan Chase : 1. Immediately acknowledges this account as fraudulent. 2. Ceases all collection efforts related to this account. 3. Stops furnishing this account to the credit bureaus. 4. Provides me with written confirmation that this account has been permanently closed as fraudulent. I have attached the following supporting documents : - FTC Identity Theft Report - Police Report - My dispute letter to JPMorgan Chase - Government-issued ID and proof of address This matter has caused significant harm to my credit and financial reputation. I am asking the CFPB to hold JPMorgan Chase accountable for properly investigating and removing this fraudulent account from my record
