I am filing a complaint against CareCredit for unfair billing practices. On XX/XX/XXXX, I paid my full statement balance of {$290.00}, believing this would bring my account to {$0.00} and close out the balance. I was never notified that additional interest charges would still apply after I paid the full amount. On XXXX, I received a statement in the mail, which was odd to me because I haven't used the card since I paid it off. I opened it immediately and to my surprise it had a balance. Apparently I had been charged interest in XXXX ( even though I had no remaining balance ), and then interest on that interest in XXXX, along with a " payment card security fee '', bringing the total to {$9.00}. I was never made aware of this continued accrual, and no paper or digital notification was sent to alert me. When I called customer service after opening the statement on XXXX, the representative explained the accrual and said he understood my confusion and wasn't sure when the terms change had taken affect because he didn't see it shown and that my account wasn't being charged a paper statement fee either which usually only happens when there's no balance. I was transferred to a manager who refused to waive the interest, despite my good faith effort to pay off the balance in full in XXXX. The manager also condescendingly told me there was " no one higher '' I could speak to. I felt pressured and disrespected. This feels predatory and misleading I was charged interest on interest, not on any principal balance. Had I known there would be a residual balance after paying in full, I would have taken immediate action. I request that the accrued interest and fees be waived, as this seems like a deceptive practice and poor customer communication.
