Complaint From : XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXo Whom It May Concern : IXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX am filing this complaint against CITIBANK NA Account XXXX a debt collection agency XXXX am being contacted by CITIBANK NA Account XXXX a debt they claim I owe, despite the fact that they are not the original creditor of this debt. They have failed to properly validate this debt upon my request and have continued collection attempts without providing sufficient proof that they legally own the debt or have the right to collect on it. CITIBANK NA Account XXXX has not provided proper verification of the debt including the name of the original creditor, the original agreement, and documentation showing the complete chain of ownership from the original creditor to CITIBANK NA Account XXXX .They have continued collection efforts despite my written dispute of the debt and have not provided proper validation within the XXXX timeframe required by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( FDCPA ). I believe this company has violated several provisions of the FDCPA, including failure to properly validate the debt upon request, attempting to collect a debt without proper legal standing, continuing collection activities during the dispute period, and engaging in harassing and intimidating collection practices. Their communications have been intimidating and have caused me significant stress and anxiety. Under the FDCPA ( 15 U.S.C. 1692 et seq. ), third-party debt collectors like CITIBANK NA provide validation of a debt within 30 days of initial contact, cease collection activities until proper validation is provided, provide complete information about the original creditor, and demonstrate legal standing to collect the debt. Furthermore, this has been on my credit report longer then XXXX years and CITIBANK NA Account XXXX will not drop off credit report despite the XXXX year law on the credit report, debt buyers who purchase debt from original creditors must maintain and provide complete documentation showing their legal right to collect, including the complete chain of ownership. As a fair resolution, I request immediate cessation of all collection attempts, removal of any related negative information from my credit reports, written confirmation that CITIBANK NA will cease collection activities on this account, and compensation for any FDCPA violations as permitted by law. I am filing this complaint to protect my rights as a consumer against improper debt collection practices and to seek appropriate resolution as provided by federal consumer protection laws.
