What happened : I opened a Citibank account in XX/XX/XXXX. Shortly after opening the account, access was blocked. I was overseas at the time, so I couldnt resolve the issue. In XX/XX/XXXX, after returning to the XXXX, I contacted Citibank multiple times. They gave inconsistent reasons for the block and said they needed to verify my identity but they have been unable to do so despite several attempts. On XX/XX/XXXX, a Citibank representative said they mailed a reference code to an address I dont recognize. They then ended the call without assisting further. On XX/XX/XXXX, I spent over 30 minutes on the phone again, and they still failed to verify my identity. They told me I would be contacted at a " verified '' address or phone number which I dont have access to. I offered to verify my identity in person at a Citibank branch, but the representative dismissed it, saying, You can try, but I dont guarantee you can restore your account. At this point, my account remains blocked, I have no access to my funds, and Citibank is not taking clear or reasonable steps to resolve the situation. This is causing me serious inconvenience and financial stress.
