Consumer Narrative

My loan was transferred to XXXX XXXX. I have been paying the student loan since XXXX at the direction of the servicer. I asked for assistance from the service to lower my payments because they were to high. It was lowered by around {$20.00}. The payments were so high, that the loans would have been paid off in ten years. The lender knew I was on the PSLF track. I made every payment on time. I chose a payment plan that would be accepted by PSLF at the beginning of the payment period ( I was with a different servicer at that time ). I reviewed the payment plan and discovered it was different from the one I chose and changed the plan back to one that would be accepted by PSLF. The servicer is saying that my acceptable payments for PSLF started in XXXX not XXXX. I consolidated the loans when I started making payments and was charged an additional {$20000.00} for this action. The lender is stating that the loans were consolidated in XXXX n0t XXXX. The lender is also saying I was in a deferment in XXXX and XXXX. The only time I was in a deferment is due to COVID, meaning the time should be counted toward PSLF forgiveness. I am unable to pull up information concerning the previous lender. I completed the PSLF form twice by mail and once electronically. ( Incidentally I had to call constantly to get the information to determine the status of the loan ) I am being given the run around. I checked the website, and 15 payments have not been counted for PSLF. ( XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX ( hopefully I counted this correctly ) ). I was required to start making payments in XXXX ( by the government ) these payments are not being counted. The lender 's comments are that I was not in an acceptable plan. I was receiving assistance from the lender 's representative ; therefore how could I not have been in an acceptable plan. These lenders really are playing games. I made the mistake of saying that I am retiring this year. The loans were consolidated again when being transferred to the new lender and I was charged additional fees. I am still completing forms to get the count correct, but I have been working on this for 3 years.
