Consumer Narrative

I applied for a credit card with Chase since I already bank with Chase through a checking account. I applied for the simplest credit card ( XXXX XXXX ) and then I am denied because apparently I already have that exact credit card. The last XXXX digits of the account are XXXX. After checking with a Chase representative, the account belongs to a name called XXXX XXXX XXXX. After contacting Chase 's executive office, and their fraud department, they just kept redirecting me and eventually told me I needed to file an identity theft claim, then gave no further details of what to do next. The identify theft claim plan told me to ask Chase to close this account, when I called the Chase fraud department they told me they could not do it. At some point between all this, Chase asked me to verify my social security for my checking account. I had to do it about 4 times for it to finally be done, they ended up suspending my account, but I did get access to it back. Furthermore, I checked my credit report with XXXX and XXXX ( XXXX refuses to let me get one ) and it says that there is no credit card accounts opened with my social security. Perhaps Chase allowed there to be a mistake made with their records if they have my social security linked to an account and the credit bureaus do not. I tried opening lines of credit with other banks, and they do not let me because they can not verify my social security. I believe they can not verify my social security because of Chase 's records. I am attaching my checking card number ( debit card ) to this so Chase may identify me.
