My husband and I used Citi Cards thank you points for a flight to Florida ( from DC ) and a car rental in XXXX XXXX. When we arrived, XXXX XXXX refused to allow us to use the thank you points, indicating that Citi Travel had used the wrong code, a code only for foreign travelers. After spending over an hour on the phone with Citi from the XXXX XXXX, Citi declined to intercede with Budget and refused to reimburse us for our payment to rent a car from XXXX. ( the line at Budget was too long at that point ). We paid {$370.00} for the rental ( in my husband 's name, XXXX XXXX ). Citi said it could restore to us the thank you points we had used, but that would not remedy its mistake. I am XXXX XXXX XXXX and my husband is XXXX and we are not in the best of health. We have no plans for and no expectation of further air travel. If we cashed in the thank you points we lost, it would not come close to reimbursing us for the cost of the rental. It has been over 3 weeks since we wrote to Citi Travel, and we have received no response. Incidentally, the Citi agent who had booked our reservations spoke very limited XXXX, requiring us to take 2 hours to make our reservation, and misspelled my husband 's last name, requiring us to take additional time to correct his name on the airlines ticket.
