On XX/XX/year> I called Chase about my XXXX XXXX XXXX I asked to downgrade the card to their card with no annual fee, I guess it's the XXXX XXXX now. The agent said there is some issue with their system and to call back tomorrow. I call back the next day and the agent says getting some indication I can't downgrade the card again. I ask to speak to a supervisor.. The supervisor in the end says I am not eligible to downgrade the card. I've had credit cards for 35 years and any time there was a change where fees went up or I wasn't going to use features of the higher priced card I was ALWAYS eligible to downgrade a credit card to one with lower or no fees. Then she proceeded to tell me I could apply for the XXXX XXXX I told her I didn't want to do that, I wanted to downgrade.. she mentioned I could close the card.. It was very strange hearing all of this and it seemed I would be forced to pay the coming HIGHER fees or close the XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX. This doesn't seem right as it would affect my credit score in a negative way and just seems like poor policy on Chase 's part. So I'm writing to find out if this is against regulations??
