I am disputing a charge for carpet replacement that my former landlord referred to a debt collection agency immediately upon notifying me of the charge on XX/XX/year> ( 5 days after our lease end date ), without giving me a reasonable opportunity to dispute it directly. The landlord sent an email with a final account statement and photos of the unit on XX/XX/year>, but did not provide detailed documentation justifying the charge, such as the carpets age, proof that cleaning was attempted before replacement, or depreciation calculations.
