Consumer Narrative

Dear CFPB, I am filing an escalation complaint against Citibank ( CBNA ) due to their failure to properly investigate my dispute regarding inaccurate charge-off reporting on my credit report. Details of the Complaint : Account Number : Ending in XXXX Charge-Off Reported : XX/XX/XXXX Inaccuracy : My credit report shows repeated charge-offs ( CO ) for multiple months in XXXX and XXXX, which violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( FCRA ). A charge-off can only be reported once, and it is inaccurate to list it multiple times as a recurring event. The payment history also shows late payments after the charge-off date, which is factually incorrect since an account can not accrue new late payments after being charged off. Companys Response to My Initial Complaint : Citibank responded on XX/XX/XXXX, claiming that their reporting is accurate. However, they failed to address the FCRA violation regarding the repeated charge-off entries. They provided account statements but did not explain why they are reporting multiple charge-offs over several months. Requested Resolution : 1. Require Citibank to provide a full justification for reporting multiple charge-offs or demand that they correct this inaccurate reporting immediately. 2. If Citibank can not justify this reporting practice, CFPB should order the removal of the duplicate charge-off entries. 3. Ensure Citibank complies with FCRA regulations, which prohibit duplicate negative reporting. Attachments : Copy of my credit report, highlighting the duplicate charge-off entries. Previous correspondence with Citibank, where they failed to address the reporting error. Proof of identity I request that the CFPB investigate Citibanks failure to verify their reporting and take appropriate action to correct the inaccuracy. Thank you for your time and assistance in resolving this matter. Sincerely, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX
