On XX/XX/XXXX around XXXX I got into a taxi in XXXX XXXX XXXX The driver agreed that the XXXX minute fare would cost $ XXXX ( around $ XXXX ). Once we arrived at our destination the driver locked the doors. The driver refused to accept cash. He insisted I needed to pay with a card. Being a young woman in a foreign country I feared for my safety and handed the card over. The driver fumbled with the card and his phone. He refused to supply a receipt. I checked my bank and noticed he charged $ XXXX. He scammed me. I immediately called the bank and informed them to cancel my card as my information had been stolen. The bank is now addressing the charge as a restaurant/bar charge and is siding with the merchant. The merchant has no supporting evidence to prove this is a restaurant/bar charge. I never entered my pin or signed a receipt. I dont understand why the bank is siding with the merchant. I have been a loyal customer to Bank of America for XXXX years. I researched this on the internet and it is a common taxi scam. I am reaching out to consumer finance to get the assistance the bank wont supply.
