My mortgage company has been charging me late fees when I have not been late on my payments. On XX/XX/XXXX I made a mortgage payment of XXXX $ through my mortgage companies website. My mortgage company made a mistake and took XXXX months worth of payments out of my bank account without my authorization. I only authorized XXXX payment to be taken out. I reported it to my bank and my mortgage company. The person at my bank said they would investigate it. The person that I spoke with at my mortgage company said that they could not return part of the money. They had to return all of it back and upon receiving it, call back and make the payment and I won't be charged any late fees. My bank stop payment without my knowledge on XX/XX/XXXX. My mortgage company sent me back the XXXX payments they thought they had on XX/XX/XXXX. I called in on XX/XX/XXXX to make my payment after I received notice that my mortgage company deposited the payments that they thought they had. When when I paid my mortgage in XXXX I got a call from my mortgage company telling that I am behind on my mortgage. I asked them how could I be late when I had just paid them. It wasn't until the next month when the calls came more frequent is when I looked into my bank statements and I realized what had happen. My mortgage company tried to replace the money they didn't have to send by taking away prior mortgage payments. I tried to resolve it by telling them that I would pay the money back but they needed to remove the late fees. They wouldn't do so. So I appealed their decision to their corporate office. They took a while to get back and with the same results. They have threaten me with foreclosure and I got to the point were I was ready to go to court. I was making my payments on time every month before this happen and I have been making my payments on time every month since. I had good credit before this happen and now my credit has took a big hit to the point that I can't even cosign my daughters student loan.
