Consumer Narrative

Earlier this month there were several unauthorized transactions On my XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX. These transactions where from the company XXXX XXXX. I do not have an account with this company, and have done no transactions whatsoever with them. When I logged in my account and realized these unauthorized transactions I immediately called customer service. Due to it being XXXX day I could not get in touch with anyone there was no customer service that day. I then tried to lock my card because I saw these transactions continuing right before my eyes. There was absolutely nothing I could do. XXXX has no way to lock the debit card. No alerts no one to talk to absolutely nothing. So I was stuck watching my money being drained from my account until the next day. I immediately called in the morning report this. I made my claim and was told I'd be sent a new card and receive a temporary credit within 10 days. I received my card and tried to activate it and was sent to customer service. While on hold I tried to log in my account which said I was blocked. Once customer service answered I was told it was just for security purposes and that I just needed to come in with my ID to verify it was really me. Once I went inside with my ID I was told that the temporary credit had been applied to my account and that once he emailed the verification forms in that my account would be unlocked and I could activate my card. However, today, 3 days later I received a call informing me that my verification was received, but that some reason due to them not issuing there own debit cards and not being able to verify the transactions that for security my account had to remain locked until the end of the investigation and I could not use my debit card either, and this will take up to 90 DAYS! This is completely unacceptable from a supposedly reputable company like XXXX XXXX or bank of America. I am being punished and further victimized by the company because I was a victim of fraud. They never tried to lock my account when someone was stealing my money, however I am locked out my own account with no access to my funds. What effect is a temporary credit if they lock my account giving me no access to it for 90 days? This makes no sense. XXXX as well have just said we're not giving you anything until the investigation is complete and left my account unlocked. Instead they issued me a temporary credit and locked my account so I wouldn't have access to it. This is unbelievable. This is unethical and the worst business I've ever experienced.
