I have student debt that I took on under the belief that it would be forgiven after working in public service and making income baed loan payments for at least a decade, under the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( PSLF ) program. Throughout the past few years, things have been changing with payment plans. I was on the Pay As You Earn ( XXXX ) plan for many years, and then when the new Saving on a XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) plan was rolled out last year, I was convinced to switch to it. However, it is currently held up in the courts, and so none of the past several months have been counting toward my XXXX forgiveness ; even if I forced myself off forbearance and made payments, they would not count toward forgiveness, and so there is no reason or incentive to make payments. However, I would very much like to continue to have months count toward forgiveness, and I would love to switch back to the XXXX plan that I was previously on for many years. I am happy to make the payments that are calculated based on my income, but instead I have been stuck in limbo for months with no power to move forward. Applications to switch back to XXXX were closed for several months, then reopened on XX/XX/XXXX. I applied that week to switch back to XXXX, and my application is still processing. On XX/XX/XXXX, the Department of Education sent me an email stating that borrowers whose applications take longer than XXXX business days to process will be switched into a XXXX day processing forbearance that would also count toward XXXX. It has been well over XXXX business days since I applied, and I have received no word from my loan servicer, Mohela, about my application. I would like to be switched onto the XXXX plan, and in the mean time, I would like to be in the correct processing forbearance instead of the administrative forbearance I am currently stuck in that does not count toward PSLF.
