I received a phishing scam that I thought was an email from Bank of America. I started to report it with the FTC and was redirected here. Before calling BofA customer service about the scam, I called the number in the email, which had an automated message saying it was disconnected. I clicked the link in the email to check my application status and input my information ( last name, last four of SSN, zip code, and birthday ), but an error message popped up saying my personal information didn't match the info on the credit card application. I called Bank of America about this email, as I had never applied for a card, and they confirmed they never saw a credit card application from me. They also confirmed that the email address used to send the email ( XXXX ) was not a Bank of America email address. Below is the text of the email : " We've received your credit card application for Bank of America Unlimited Cash Rewards credit card. We're currently reviewing your information. You can check your application status online at any time. If you don't recognize this application, call XXXX. ''
