On XX/XX/2024 I submitted an Income-Driven Repayment plan application for an Income-Based Repayment ( IBR ) plan and received confirmation from Federal Student Aid that the application was received. On XX/XX/2024 I received an electronic letter dated XX/XX/2024 from Mohela confirming receipt of the IDR Application. However, there was no indication of a processing forbearance. On XX/XX/2024 I called mohela and waited XXXX hour XXXX minutes to speak with someone. I eventually spoke with employee ID # XXXX. I asked about why the processing forbearance was not appearing yet. They said they would not put me in a processing forbearance until after XX/XX/2024. This contradicts the federal student aid guidance posted on XXXX XXXX, 2024 and still listed on their site as of today, XX/XX/2204. Without this processing forbearance, it negatively impacts me as a borrower pursuing XXXX as it delays any potential PSLF qualifying periods. Below is a direct excerpt from the federal student aid site : If servicers need time to process a borrowers IDR application, servicers will move the borrower into a processing forbearance for up to 60 days. Interest accrues during this short-term processing forbearance, and time in the processing forbearance is eligible for XXXX and IDR forgiveness. If the borrowers application is not processed by their servicer within 60 days, the borrower will be moved into a general forbearance that does not count toward XXXX or IDR until their application is processed.
